High Point High School is a public high school located in Beltsville, Maryland, proudly serving students in grades 9–12. As part of Prince George’s County Public Schools, we are committed to academic excellence, equity, and student success. Our diverse and vibrant community fosters a supportive environment where every student is empowered to thrive — both in and beyond the classroom.
Founded in the fall of 1954, High Point High School has a long-standing tradition of educational excellence in Prince George’s County, Maryland. Originally planned as Cherry Hill High School, the name was changed to “High Point” to reflect its location — believed to be the highest point in the county at the time. Upon opening, High Point began serving students from Greenbelt, while the former Greenbelt High became Greenbelt Junior High School. By the late 1950s, the school faced rapid growth, leading to the adoption of a split class schedule to manage overcrowding. Today, High Point continues its mission of preparing students for the future through a legacy rooted in resilience, diversity, and community.
At High Point High School, our core values shape everything we do. We are dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive, and empowering learning environment where every student can thrive. Our values reflect our commitment to academic excellence, community engagement, and personal integrity:
